Federer broke at 1-1 after a double fault by Ferrer, it was crucial as both players were holding their serves well for the rest of the match. Ferrer seemed to be on the front foot in most baseline rallies and fired powerful winners all over the court. Federer was having no problems on his service games though and secured the first set 6-4.

Both players had been using the drop shot well, and great rallies were being hit. But it was Ferrer's unforced errors and double faults that were hurting him and after a long deuce at 4-4, Federer got the break and served out the match in brilliant fashion.
I don't see Tipsarevic as a threat, I think Djokovic still hasn't got over his grandfather's death and that's why he lost. For me, Del Potro is Federer's greatest threat after Rafa and Nole on clay and I think they will meet in the final.
